A lot of clients don't understand what the discovery process is. Discovery describes legal processes available to everyone in litigation. Discovery is a right and the law allows people to try to find out the information needed to prosecute or defend lawsuits. Many clients do not understand or appreciate that they have the legal right to attempt to obtain all of the requested information and documents needed for the lawsuit, and that process is colloquially known as "discovery".
